THE CLOSER I GET TO YOU – FEAT. MIRRAH
Mika hooks up with US hip hop diva Mirrah and local super-producer Chong Nee to cover a 70s soul classic. This James Mtume and Reggie Lucas composition was a smash hit on both sides of the Atlantic for Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. The single was released in 2008 with an accompanying music video directed by Andrew Sorenson and featuring the Torotoro dance crew. Single available on CD/DVD

PŌTI – MIKA & TE PLASTIC MĀORI
This pro-voting, hard-edged, electro-metal Mika single was nominated for Best Te Reo Song at the 2007 APRA Silver Scroll Awards. Mika is backed by Te Plastic Māori, featuring Taupuhi Toki, Mokoera Te Amo and Kingi TuuTaniwha. Together, they present a thought provoking shock rock extravaganza of heavy beats, electric guitar and booming Māori haka, with Mika growling masterfully beneath what amounts to sonic assault-and-battery. The Pōti single is packaged with DVD features including the Plastic Māori Sting and hardcore Pōti video. Single available on CD/DVD

MIKA HAKA
Mika Haka is a 100% Te Reo Māori dance album born in the Polynesian capital of Auckland at the turn of the millennium, where tribal rhythms meet pumping nightclubs, where identities are fluid and a world of difference seems possible. Mika works up a sweat with acclaimed classical composer Gareth Farr and in-demand contemporary producer Joel Haines, on a disc that features some of New Zealand’s top players, including multi-talented keyboardist Godfrey de Grut. The insert includes lyrics in te reo Māori and English, plus two bonus DVD videos directed by Whetu Fala and featuring Mika’s dynamic Torotoro dance crew. Album available on CD/DVD

KAPAI KABARET
Selected by National Radio’s Whenua programme for its first live recording, Kapai Kabaret was recorded at The Club on Auckland’s Queen Street in May 1996. Mika is accompanied by Tama Karena on piano in this cabaret tour-de-force, set amidst the laughter and applause of an enthralled live audience. Mika’s razor sharp tongue steers the crowd through a camp kiwi collection of songs, monologues, TV themes and commercial jingles. Along the way, Mika pokes fun at everyone from Howard Morrison and Barbra Streisand, to Felicity Ferret and the Mongrel Mob! Perhaps most significantly, this album includes the first ever gay haka, Tēnei Tōku Ure (This Is My Penis), written by Mika. Album available on cassette only

I HAVE LOVED ME A MAN
The single that launched Mika onto an unsuspecting world is a dance floor cover of Allison Durban’s kiwi #1 hit of 1968! Produced by the late great Dalvanius Prime, I Have Loved Me A Man lays Mika’s vocals on a bed of fresh club beats and cool blown saxophone. The b-side, Time’s Right, is a ground-breaking safe sex nightclub anthem. The two vocal tracks are accompanied by smooth, timeless instrumental mixes. Single available on cassette only
